Bare with me

As you can see, I am learning as I go here. I am changing layout and themes as things become available and me learning how to navigate certain options in the settings. Each week I am learning more and more and now there is an AI brief within these Blogs. Lol. There is so much!

This looks so simple when others do it....

But I am up for the challenge and I will do this like I do everything else in my life...I will master it too. Linking is coming as well. So stay tuned.

Want to give a shout out to my grandsons new robotic team! Hearing great things going on over in Dinwiddie County. Will bring you an update on that as soon I talk to a person who I think may be a contributing supporter here soon.

These children need all the local and commercial support they can get. Way to go guys! Stay the course!

Birthday wishes

First, Thank you each and everyone who reached out and gave me a Birthday shout out! It is really humbling to see so many who do that! I think I had like 500+. To me thats insane! But thanks guys. You sure know how to make a person feel loved!

And as most of you know this family of mine is my archilles heel (or hell). Heard from ALL my family that matters except two. Three actually. But one was prompted to do so and did not say it at all when she called. But my granddaughter wished me a happy birthday and I love her very much! What a beautiful child she is.

Got 2 beautiful birthday cards from my dad (whoot whoot). He is my bff after all!  And my extra mom. She gave me a card I cried over actually!

I think back to when I was her worst critic and never gave her room for comfort within my presence. And I am so glad she and I got over that a few years ago. We sat down and talked it out. I mean all of it. The good, the bad, the ugly! All laid out for us to go over and try and move forward. And now, its like she has been that person I was not allowing in because of my own illogical thought processes during those years. I am so glad I have her now. I have come to appreciate her quirks, and love her in more ways than I even thought I could! I mean guys...we did not get a long at all back in the day! We have come so far and I finally feel as she has become a strong support system for me. For that I thank her so much. She did not have to ever put her time and energy into me, I literally gave her no reason to...but she did! She never gave up on me. And I am so glad she did not.

I however, did NOT hear from my "bio" mom. Its so funny because people are like, "you have the best mom! She is so sweet and friendly!". Maybe she is or maybe she isnt. I would not know this. She isnt that person to me. She was for a brief moment when she was sick in like 2018,19, and 20. And her and the baby sister were at odds. She had no one else to lean on really. So I stepped in and did what I could. But I know I was just a subsitute. I always have been. She proves it to me all the time.

Anyway, her and baby sister made up finally and they started getting reaquainted after all their issues were resolved and I was moved to the back burner, again. Thats ok. So use to it by this age.

I love my mom very much. I just hate that she has always been able to just sacrafice me and my sister Angie, so callously ALL THE TIME. And we have allowed it. Really. We do not hold her accountable for all she has said and done about us. Angie said she did not reach out to her for her birthday this year either. But I see she will reach out to all the cousins, niece's, nephews, etc. She has to save face I suppose!

My moms favorite niece and I share a birthday! I bet you 1000% she wished her a happy birthday! That niece and I have always been close. Or at least I thought we had. UNTIL recently. At a funeral. She was so standoffish towards me and she HAS NEVER been that way. So Im patiently waiting. I am sure it will come around at some point what I have or havent done that has bothered them to this extent.

But I am here to tell anyone reading this...things do not get resolved by sitting silently. And it will not stop the publication of my book. So if you want to add in your own "words", please feel free to reach out. My email is listed in this blog.

But anyways, just a pure disappointment all the way around!

BUT YOU GUYS...the ones who reach out via this Blog. You have all been amazing!!!! The support you are showing me is so encouraging to say the least. Your letters and IMs about various topics is eye opening too. Believe me I have a lot of matrial in draft status. It will be coming soon.

Living vs dead

It is absolutely sad to watch people celebrate people who are gone. My heart goes out to them fully! I am postive those who have loved ones who pass away wayyy too soon, it is like a hollow spot. And it so hard to fill! And I would never want to take that level of love or sorrow away from another.

But when you watch your shared grandchildren of that persons family celebrate (the dead) while those same grandchildren have a grandma and grandpa (and great grandpa) who are all VERY MUCH ALIVE, who does not get to see them at all because the parents deemed they do not like you anymore, what are you really teaching your children?

That the dead matter more? That one family is better than another? That you do not care about any of your own living family, just those that do not get in the way (eg. the dead)?

You know, I get people having issues. I fully understand where people fall short in many areas. But the lowest is the lack of respect while being so fake about who YOU truly are as a person! And that, is what I can't deal with!

Why cant YOU own your shit and be done with the drama?

O wait, I do know! When you do this, you will have to face your own LIES! And you nor your sig-other can do that without letting everyone know the truth behind both of your lies!

So you seek to punish me! And in doing so you hurt so many others! When all it takes is responsibilty! Sad situation this is!

And I think honestly, while the dead here would be so proud of the 2 grands, as well as the 2 extra grands he got, he would be ashamed of his son in how he and his girlfriend are treating a person who has never done anything but seek to help in almost any way I can, at any given time. No, I could not raise your kids, or babysit daily. But I COULD help you pay bills, help you get one kid to soccer pratice weekly, give you dinners out, help with your very first beach trip paid for by me, who could not make it that year. I did what I could, when I could, where I could. And it was not good enough for either of you!

If they would just be honest with themselves they would know this! Because I know this. Everyone around me knows this. And I bring receipts! And because I do this is why we will probably remain estranged. Because it is hard for young people to see their wrongs. They live in lies of their own making and I cannot accept that from anyone around me.

My daughter has always been a lier. As most kids are. They lie about everything. But I thought a long time ago she would have out grown it. But this is simply not the case! She has grown to think she is a better lier. But I am her mom. I know her lies. I know she and the sig-other live in a lie of how they got together.

And God only knows what lies they will tell the children about me.

But its just a sad thing to see. 2 grandparents and one great grandparent who just wants to hug and love the kids! Who wants to see them and be apart of their life while young. Yet cant because of their own lies. Just sad. And I just wanted to vent about it!

I sure hope NO ONE ever finds theirself in this place, but I know there are many! My support group has seen much worse than this in their own families. Many of them have no idea why or how it even came about, which is really sadder than our situation.

I have done all I can do in taking responsibilty. I can not do anything else on this end. So I have to let this one go. And it literally breaks my heart! But like the other daughter, I literally can not fight for something that is not there anymore.

Virginia's General Assembly 2026 - Current Politics for Virginia Residents

Hey guys, Just going through the current Virginia general assembly. Trying to understand all the mess going on in this state at the moment. And lordy is it a lot, a lot! I come away shaking my head but with one big question...

Why is it some seats have term limits and some do not? Im reading and reading and there is NO viable answer I can find. So this is stumping me at the moment because I believe everyone in these roles should have term limits set forth. Not because they are good or bad, but because times change, people change, and terms keep the playing field level and current.
I think I get the arguement that most of these positions without term limits is because this is more likely than not, their career path. But any ELECTED official, should have a set term limit. Right?

What am I missing here? Ill keep digging. Ill figure it out most assurdly!

Anyway, hope this current roster helps you understand who is playing politics in Virginian's lives!

Light House Theory

Very interesting about this theory. Become the becon of light. Stop chasing the people to provide support, become the support you were always meant to be.

There are many people in your life who do not deserve your devotion to them, always showing up and rescuing them. They do not deserve your friendship in quite times, muchless a storm. And most of them do not want it anyways. Stop being the rescuer only to be rejected and abondanded when you need someone.

Its time to start facing reality from a different perch. One of calm awareness. Awareness that you can never change a person know matter how much you might love them or over give to them. They will be who they were always meant to be. And if that is the case, then you have to let them go anyway for your own stability.

I had to find ways to say goodbye to these people. Friends and family alike. They bring nothing to the table for me other than what they can get out of me by way of using my love for them. It is so hard to see this kind of shelfishness residing in many around me. Its hard to stop being that type of person. It is hard to not be there when you see things happening that are so bad and you cant stop it. Number one, its not what they want, and number two, its not up to be the rescuer anymore. They have their own mistakes and storms to go through.

Our bible tells us "to everything there is a season". People do not come with instructions. But they do have an assigned season. And no matter how long or how hard we try to hold on, the season changes. People are this way. Me included. Remember that!

I too change. I am becoming apart of the roots now. And I can support the seasons. But I cannot stop the change.

Be someones becon. It doesnt have to be blood relations. It just has to have somewhat the same values, morals, and respect as you in order to move through storms safely to port.

Psalm 46:10

Be still and know I am GOD! Everything will be okay.

GOD knows you are tired.

HE knows you have done your best.

HE knows you feel lost about the future.

But HE sees you.

HE sees that you have not given up. HE has a plan for you. HE will fight for you.

Be still, have faith and you will not need to fight.

GOD will remove the people who should not be there, open doors you couldn't open, and turn things around.

Everyday I have to read this. Everyday I choose to put my faith in GOD. Everyday I feel healing. My heart. My soul. I am healing in a way where I am starting to see HIS plan for my path forward. There have been people in my life that I have fought to keep in my life, some for over 20+ years. It is hard to let go! It is so hard to see myself walk away from the very people I have always considered my people and always loved. It is hard to do. It is hard to see into the future when you walk away from all you have known for so long.

But I have to recongnize the very people I am grieving, let go of me a long time ago. That is a lot to take on and feel. But I have to feel it in order to accept it and move into any direction.

It also places me in a position of understanding. In some relationships in my past, I can see the reason my oldest sister had to step away from people in the family. Had no idea why she chose this path. She asked all of us to leave her alone. And I have respected that. I will not ever breach that because of who I am in my morals and values.

I do/did not agree with her lifestyle. But that is/was her lifestyle! Not mine. Her lifestyle allowed for her divorce to come to pass. She set up her lifestyle to come and bite her in the butt. Instead of admitting that and facing it for what it is, she would rather blame everyone else around her. Me, my dad, my poor mom, who is not perfect, but is full of love for each of us! Instead of coming and trying to resolve the issues that seperate(ed) us, she talks to the only passive one in the family. Anyone she even thinks will call her out, she runs from, she avoids any confrentation at all!

Unfortunately, this is the same for both of my daughters and to a certain extent, my husband. I will never be the cause for someone to have to chose between people we (each) love. I will calmly let them go. And while I struggle to uderstand, there is absolutely nothing that can be done when they shut off all communication and switch the details of their involvement to shrink their own culpability! Thats on them.

My door is open...for now. I cannot gaurantee for how long. It took me two years to fully be done with reaching out to the oldest sister. I am learning to be still and know! And by the grace of GOD I hope to have more and better clarity. I pray for this to come to pass. Because HE is all I have.

The time I went through grieving my sister after she excommunicated herself from my life was not easy. I tried over and over and reached out so many, many times. Everytime I was met with absolute SILENCE. The only thing that told me was I was not worth fighting for. So when I made the stance and pull away for my own sake, I am looked at as being mean, as being unreasonable. Like she was in the right to be the way she was/is but my reaction to her (unaction) was/is unreasonable.

This ladies and gents is what is called BAIT and SWITCH. This is how it is done. But what people fail to realize or even acknowledge is that for every action a person does something, there will be a reaction! And that is on you to take responsibilty for! Not to place upon the person who did not have anything to do with any of it to begin with!

This is the exact same situation from the beach vacation. Two people who took control over something they were not given. One, a family member who is really good at organization, and the other an invited outsider/guest, who personally has major control issues. These two have yet to accept any of the responsibility their individual actions caused and created the reaction from me!

My reaction, I have apologized for. Numerous times to all 3 of them. And they keep demanding apologies! And the reason I have come too is they have not recognized and accepted what they did. They have not apologized to me in any form, other than one. The partner. She did apologize for her yelling on the steps the first day. But after that, they still demand more and more for their own needs. Therefore they feel justified in their demands.

No conversations as to date on any of this! One I have had chatted with but not indepth because she is still weighing how she handled her end of things! And the other, well, yall saw her response in an earlier PC. She is doing what all people in a controlled relationship does. And thats ok. But even that too is on her. You see, truthfully, if she wanted to resolve things, she could! She just can't use the daughter to do it. Or like wise. I will respect the individual efforts. The team effort I am not interested in at this point!

And its funny because she threatened to air my dirty laundry, but jokes on her. One, I dont have any dirty laundry that I wont own myself, and two, I do not really care what she does. I would never know what she does because I do not follow her. And I do not associate with those around her. But even if she thinks she needs the daughter to mend her ways, she doesn't. She just needs to accept her own actions and have those conversations first. They all 3 will have to at some point. Or accept what I am slowly accepting. That they are losing a person who loves them very much! No matter what is done, to me personally, family will always come first! I will treat as well and as good as I am treated. And at this point, their treatment of me has been very eye opening.

So I bolded the verse above in reference to that! You see I do not need any one as long as I have GOD. And I am ok with this because HE is the one in control of all our fates. Rather you acknowledge HIM or not. Our paths have already been dictated! The only thing left to ask is who are you in your own morals and values? What have you not accepted within your truth that holds you at arms length? Or who?

Passage of time, it can heal. If you allow it too. It can fester, if that is so what you chose. But one thing it will never do, for me, is be forgotten. I do not stick my head in the sand and let bygones be bygones! I love these people and I expect better of them just as much as they expect from me!

But for now, I will just be still and know! I am learning more than I could ever imagine!

Dying with dignity

When it comes to death and dying, I actively encourage EVERY PERSON to go to a healthcare facility and sit with a patient, day in and day out, doing what nurses do for them on a daily before they even think they can begin to weigh in on the subject of dying with digity.

As a society, how have we NOT allowed a person to do as they want/wish with their own body? I get the arguements. I get society is looking to religion to free us of having to make these decisions. I get that it is not easy to talk about death of any loved one. What I do not get is how we are just now finally approaching this as a nation.

I get all the morally corropt ways this has been allowed, that is one thing I DO GET. I have witnessed the families not visit. I have seen the appointed family care giver treat that family member as a burden when they think no one is watching. I have seen them tell the doctors one thing, yet go home and gather that government check on that family members behalf and not have one real care about that person except for IF THEY DIE, the check stops! And the system, the very rules placed upon the healthcare industry as a whole; the doctors and nurses and courses of treatment, the fatigue, the financial drain on the system itself, is HUGE. It is a money making avenue for big coorperations and pharmacuticals. And all at the expence of allowing a person to suffer!

Is it in the best interest to a patient to do what my Uncle did? After being in full control of all the facts of his condition, he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger? Someone thinks that is wrong? I cant begin to tell you the devastation it created because of HOW it was done solely. The way he had no one to talk to about it and was done with little to NO dignity. Not the way he would have wanted in any case, I am sure of this.

He did not want his grandson to find him that way, blood every where, pieces of brain matter, and him having let go of his facualties, the graphic scene. But by the time he had decided to take his own life, those were the little things he did not think about, of that I am certain! Those were the little things that when a person is faced with no resolution, results too because they do not know what the moments AFTER death looks like if someone is NOT supporting and helping them with that decision.

I am sure there will be people who say, no, I kill deer (ie, animals), I am aware of death and what happens after. But in truth, that is a whole different ball game and healthcare people understand it a little better than the average person. There will be some that say they have gone to war and have had to kill a person/people, so they understand. Again, not the same when you speak about someone you do not know verses someone you do know. Rather you as a person want to acknowledge it or not, there are differences.

I do not know the right answer here when it comes to assisted dying. I do know people will always have a reason to hold on to a loved one. I know people will always want to feel like every possible avenue has been taken before talks of the end stages. I do not think it is something that should have a pros and cons list attached to it for sure. It is a decision that should demand careful and meaningful dilligence from all parties involved. Including the patient if it is possible.

A few years back, I watched my husband do everything he could for his dad, who was diagnosed with liver cancer. For two years, he became the sole support and provider for his father. He took him to doctors appointments, he cooked his meals, gave him baths, gave him his medications 3 times a day. He followed to the letter everything the doctors asked him to do.  In the final 4 months of his dads life, he watched his dads body die out before his brain did. He had moved in with his dad for these 4 months so that he could do everything that was needed without involving a full time healthcare worker. The hospice nurses are so far and few between. He took on that role. That is not to say he willingly did it. No one wants to take on this role. He did it because this was his dad. He did it because he promised his dad he would not leave him. He did it because he was the only one who could!

For 2 years, he watched slowly as this relatively strong, healthy man deteriorated before his eyes. He was going down so fast at the end and my husband was trying everything in himself to help him feel better one more time. I remember him calling me late at night and just having these break down mental moments when his dad was asleep. I remember him telling me things that I still can visualize to this day. Having to force him to eat some days. Having to talk to him like child or allow him to talk about things that were hard for my husband to have to listen too. Having his dad cuss at him for putting him through this. Having his dad bag him to just kill him. Because his pain was to great.

I remember my husband crying uncontrollably on the phone one night saying he wish he had the strength to just go in there and put a pillow over his face and be done with it. Not for my husbands sake, mind you. But for the deep love and admiration, the respect, the dignity, he felt he owed his dad. For it to just be done for dads sake! Oh, man what a memory that is to have to revisit each day now, huh? I try to place myself in my husbands shoes and I cannot. I cannot begin to imagine having seen all he watched his father go through, to fight the fight, only to arrive to this very outcome!

My husband was literally at his wits end by the time his dad did pass, that I seriously had major issues with my husbands own mental state. He wasn't sleeping, he ate little, he smoked more than I had ever seen him smoke. He drank, Lord did he drink. And the ramblings were always the same. The tears always came and the angish was there, raw and relived each time. These words do not even began to discribe the scenes that he had gone through properly. No one knew my husbands grief. No one, not even me, could understand the gravity of the begging his father did to just be dead already. And even in that, my husband felt as if he failed his father.

Can you imagine? The depths? The angish? The burden? And feeling unable to do a dying mans last wish? And that man being your father, someone you love and respect immensly?

I hated it. I wanted to just fix it. To just fix him somehow. To help him forget that last 4 months and be done with it. But no matter, it was not my problem to work through, resolutely resolve, and move forward. It was my husbands and all I could do was support him, give him his space, and be there when he needed me.

Life has a funny way of giving us opportunities to change course when we need a new direction. We moved to Colorado for 3 months. Change of scenery, change of pace, can reset the soul sometimes. It is very hard for a person to pull themself up after devestation this great. Hubs and I left town for a while and when we came back, it was easier I think. It was calmer. It was for once not flooded with guilt and remorse, but replaced with memories of good times. My husbands good times came flooding back and replaced the grim that had enveloped him immediately after his dads death. And I finally felt as if my husband could finally move forward knowing he did all he could have possibly done, within the law, for his dad.

And therein lies the issue. WITHIN THE LAW.

People on death row, people who go out and sometimes torture, rape, sodimize children; we give these people a shot that puts them to sleep, to kill them, and its justified because a life for a life makes it all ok to that end. These people do not deserve any form of humane consideration in my opinion. I think when a person is murdered at the hands of another person, they should be killed in the very same form their victim was killed! Simple death is too easy for these criminals. And lets face it, it does not deter their behavior. But when you factor in sodimy, cutting, torture, it may give pause to the next person who thinks of killing and the manner in which its done, if convicted.

How, as a society, when a pet is terminal, we can put them down. It is not considered murder? Nope. Its called humane! Yet we do not offer those same humane avenues for people?

And this can be said for any difference between pets and humans actually. Take abortion for one example. Laugh all you want, but if I took my pet to the vet and asked for them to abort the puppies in her belly because we, me and my dog, live on a budget, people would think I was crazy! Yet, as humans, we expect to be able to do it to ourselves. Legal or unlegal abortions, it is still murder!

Helping a loved one into the next life, it is murder. But it can be done with the grace and dignity each human being deserves. Having full knowledge and understanding of their terminal illness; having full capabilities of, if able, the patients understanding and involvement; loved ones, doctors, should be envolved. It should be any persons right! At the very least an avenue to have available.

I understand it is a thin line we have to tread on carefully. I fully believe in less government as opposed to more! Government should be involved in a few things such as gathering taxes and building borders and military. Other than that, we as a people should not look to government when it comes to bigger issues. Abortion, euthenasia, even mental wellness, should be left, NOT UNCHECKED, but with the people individually involved in these cases.

I think it is past time, if government is involved, to have these talks. And I for one am for it! May not be right for every situation, but for those suffering, it could be a huge win that alleviates what my uncle did not consider in his own suiside; or what my husband was comfronted with and its gruesome mental aftermath.

These are just my thoughs. Virginia link below looking to adapt laws for these very situations. Take a look. Let me know your thoughts!

An Aunt

I dont know how many of you have aunts that are a huge part of your upbringing. If your like me, in the 70's and 80's, both my mom and my dads siblings were huge parts of the extended family. Extended family is what made families so large. The times were different. The family stayed close. The option to move away or get away was not really an option at all in those days. Many of them sucked up the differences. Or learned how to resolve differences. At least how to meet in the middle on certain subjects, right?

Let's face it, being apart of any family is hard. But being a functioning, respectable part of a larger family comes with own set of burdens.

When my mom and dad first split up in 1988, my dads sister stepped up to the plate to take me and my sister, Angie, in until my mom could get herself straight mentally. Because it was hard for her to deal with 3 girls without a support system. The eldest sister took in the youngest sister during this same period. And this allowed my mom to refocus on herself. So everyone tried to assist in this situation to better the 2 adults (or in this case 1, because my mom did not chose this. She just had to learn how to deal with it) that now had to face different paths.

This was not an easy time for any one. My aunt lived in a small house, in a different county, with her own family, that included my uncle and 2 cousins. She had 2 boys, and boy was it fun having these guys around!! I mean, they really were fun cousins. And BOYS! We had never known anything but a house full of girls! So it was different. I felt like I had brothers!!

I think the ages were offset by a few months give or take. Angie 15 and James 16 were close in age, and I was next at 13 and then Mike who was a few years younger than me. He was bratty, but he too was like a brother to us. James and Mike gave so much to us in those few months we lived with them. I doubt they even know how much they gave.

They shared their toys, their home, their schools and friends, and most importantly, they shared their parents! It was a small home, but it was filled with laughter and crying in rotating instances. But I dont remember the crying as much as I remember the laughter when I think of these two cousins today. They are a huge part of my fond childhood memories. I remember Uncle James Ray cuddling me one night when I woke up crying from some nightmare. He just sat me in the crook of his chair and held me til I fell back asleep. He was a good man. He was stern. He scared me more times then not when he got angry because he was not a man to anger easy from my recollection. But his presence was comforting. He was solid in his family and I think he tried to give us that same stability while we were there among them.

I can recall several instances that were flanked by...I dont want to say domineering, but more like, manipulation tactics by my aunt. She would give something and then take it away because she deemed it not adapting to her rules at the time. And it was never about the boys. It was geared more at my sister. Such as, Angie was on the cheerleading squad. She had practice on certain days and the aunt would let her drive to practice but she was to come straight back after practice. I dont recall of the details exactly, but I remember her stripping Angie of driving at all anymore because she had gone by a friends house or dropped a friend off after practice, something like that. But she did not really care. Angie broke the rules and she was stripped of that priviledge.

And then there was a time when Angie and James together went to a party of one of their friends, James was drunk when he got in. Angie wasn't drunk but had had a beer and said as much. Angie got the crap end of that stick, she was grounded and not allowed anymore outings. While James, bless him, was allowed to sleep it off.

I do not even know if James and Mike were aware of any mental interactions the aunt had going on in her home with me and my sister. The aunt would ask me all kinds of questions about my sisters goings and comings when she was at work; and ask questions like how many times I saw Angie at school each day; who did she hang with or talk too; how many times had she used the phone that day. It was everyday, all the time. I do not think Angie ever did anything worthy of being condemed for, but my aunt would grill me about her every day. Then she would reask these same questions, and if I left something out, or remembered something different from what I had said earlier, she would call me a liar and say I was covering for her. Looking back at this, it was a huge WOW for me at first. But now, it is just added parts to longer list of who my aunt is at heart.

Me, I always told her what I knew because I did not think Angie was doing anything any different from what James, or anyone else around us at that time was doing. Nonetheless, she had opened her house and she had loved us in her own way. So for that I was grateful.

I remember giving my aunt a file folder of poems and short writings when I first came to stay with her. I have always wrote. [Remember this file later on, I'll come back to it]. I write when I am stressed. I write when I need more understanding of something. I write to express my feelings. And ever since I learned how to write, I rhymed. And poetry just flowed. Poetry was easy for me. I saw poems, and still do, in every situation around us. A short combination of words to understand what one is feeling in any given moment. It is theraputic and healing at the same time. I always tell people, you dont need a therapist. You just need to write it all out! Just get it out! Reread it and start critiquing it and you, in the depths of it, will find the answer you seek for almost every situation.

I guess this post is about my aunt and maybe for once getting it out, because I have never collectively sat down and made it an issue to resolve for myself. But it does need to be done. Not just about her but with many in my family. But I have to start somewhere. Maybe her because I feel the mental abuse has been longer. And I do not fully think my dad can ever understand what I am saying without a record of it.

When we were with my aunt, we never went to any church or said the word church from my recollections. But today, my aunt is fully intrenched in the church. Not sure what brand she is, because although she was Methodist, where she played tresuary secretary, she did not like that it was becoming more open for progression, so she pulled away from that sector, according to our last conversation anyways. She would preach and guide prayers at family functions. People saw her as religious and involved. Which, she has always been involved. She has to have her nose out there 24/7 in others business instead of trying to water her own grass. Its just who she is. I think the church set-up allows for people of a certain character to have a holier than thou persona and this was/is my aunt. She is the epitimee of "charity starts with faking it til you make it" or  what I see her as "charity starts with anothers perception of me first".

These are not easy assessments of my aunt. But it is who she is. And through all her faults, my dad loves her. And because he loves her, I give her grace. She does not need anything from me at all, let me be very clear. I give her grace for my dad solely. In private, I pray for her and her soul.

Through out my life, my aunt has been there, but rarely has she ever lended a hand in a giving spirit. She boasts about how much she does and gives to others. She boasts about her charitable serving ways. She is very boastful.  Anyone who knows her has to acknowledge that as fact.

My sister had to go to court one day when she was 17 or 18 on a charge of assulting this girl who came at her and my mom. My sister goes to court and low and behold, but who is sitting on the side of assailent? THE AUNT! This child assulted not only my sister, but my mom as well and our own aunt goes and sits on HER side! Who does this? And the reason she worked out in her own head was because "she had no one on her side." Seriously? Maybe because she was in the wrong? Or maybe because you had two faces like you always have had? Maybe?

Anyway, fast forward to when my dad decided he and mom were going to get back together in early 2000's, like 2004 I believe it was. I was MAD. And then to find out the aunt was the one PUSHING for it. When I truly believe she is the one that encourged dad to leave mom in 1988 because he was seeing Uncle James Ray's sister! And she knew all this stuff!

But anyways, yes, when I asked dad about him and mom getting back together and found it to be true, I was so gravely mad at this! Not only had mom gone through so much after he first left her and put all the family in upheaval, now they were going to drag the grandkiddos through this a SECOND time? I did not understand. One thing I did know is that mom still loved my dad, even through another failed marriage. And dad did love mom, and said he would never marry again and never has. I think they still love each other a great deal to this day!

BUT, it does not mean you have to act upon it. Because people change and through the years, my mom had changed a great deal. She was more independant. She was more religious. She was not willing to color white lies or be second best. She was more...better! And she did not need any more hurt in her life. And her and dad, for all their love of each other, are not two people who can be together. They knew this then, one because I told them that, and two, because they are apart.

Only because you see something you want, and you have a minion in your corner cheering you on, doesn't mean you can make it fit into what you have become! Mom had to learn this to her deteriment. Mom is not the house wife/maid dad wanted. She was not as tidy as he liked his life to be. She was unapologetically herself this second time around. And it did not fit into what he liked and she wasn't willing to conform. And so they parted.

I blame this little escapade on the aunt because just like when he left the first time, and she was their encourging him to be with her sister-in-law, she was there yet again, pushing him to be with mom. She was a HUGE part of this drama in my family saga and I was mad at her for this for years.

But I sat down and we talked about it. I told her what I was angry at and how I felt about the situation as a whole. She apologized but said it was simply what her brother wanted and she had supported him on it. We agreed to let bygones be bygone.

In between years here, within her own household falling around her, the aunt has divorced Uncle James Ray and has remarried. Uncle Tommy, through all his faults, and dear Lord there were many, he was a good one! He was truthful with his demons and he fought to overcome them. He truly loved my aunt and I think in these days, even with all the things that gave him his own pleasures, she was at her happiest. She was happy with Uncle Tommy and the boys accepted him. I think this was about the time that little James started talking to his mom again. He had quit his mom the same way he felt she had quit him and his dad when she left. And he was right in his actions at that time. Because kids are an after thought when a parent doesn't see a marriage through! Even if the kid is older. If you dont want to be there anylonger, if its not good, if its able to be done, talk through your grown choices with your children so they feel apart of it. Not an after thought to it!

So the aunt was dealing with a lot. But of her own making! Because Uncle James Ray did not deserve what she did. He did not beat her, he did run around on her, he was there for his boys, he was a provider. He did what any good husband is supposed to do. She just fell out of love and that was it. Said he never did anything with her. Which I get. She is valid in her leaving. But it was of her own choosing. And for that she paid a steep price of having her eldest son have nothing to do with her for years. Until either one or two things happened and I do not know the circumstances exactly, but either it was Uncle James Rays funeral or Uncle Tommy's persausion. Either way, little James and his mom mended fences.

Uncle Tommy died not too long after our family beach trip in 2014. He is so missed. He was such a good ole fella and I am so happy we got that summer vacation together! Aunt has remarried to a wealthy show and tell guy. Nice fella, but no uncle Tommy. No James Ray for sure!

Now I will fast forward to February 2022. My husband has a major onset medical issues. We are literally on a cruise when this happens. We had done a family cruise with my immediate family and we had such fun. On the day before we were to depart the ship for home, the hubs has a heart attack, symptoms getting worse as we drive homeward bound. Skip forward to April and we have not only depleted our savings, but medical bills are literally sufficating us and monthly bills do not stop! We had sold everything we had extra, the hubs truck, his boat, etc., to stay above water because the hubs at the time did not have medical insurance. I was not working because of his condition(s) and we were drowning. The glass half full had dehydrated so far it was starting to break the glass itself.

I did not want to ask my dad for any money because one he is on a retirement budget, and two he would go without to do for me and my family and I could not have that on me as well. So, I called my aunt. You know the one that helps everyone (else)? Yeah, that one! And ol goodness, it took everything I had in me to call her too, because she is so pious. I knew there would be a lecture and I could not deal with that as well as everything else. But none the less, she was my ONLY option, so I called.

Surprisingly, she was helpful. She said she herself did not have it, but she would talk it over with Larry (her new husband) and get back to me. So the next day she calls me back and she tells me they can lend me the $2,500.00. I told her I could not promise to pay it back right away, that hubs was applying and waiting for his disability but I would do all I could to get them paid within 6 months. This was all me and my timeline. They both told me, no worries, I was working locally when I could, and they would help us.

Shew. I can atleast get two months ahead of just our monthly bills now! The only thing I asked her was please DO NOT say anything to dad about this because one I knew he would be upset that I did not come to him first, and second, I had not trusted in him. I did not want him to feel that way at all. So if she could please just not say anything. She said dont worry about that. It was not an issue.

The six month mark came and I had repaid $200, $700, and $500. Like a sum of $1500 I had paid back within the six months I had alotted myself for full repayment. But I called and kept in contact with aunt and Larry so they knew I was not forgetting them in anyway!

Larry, forever boasting about everything he has, the millions he has in the bank and all his miniture cars (for minture people), and vacations, and lake houses, boats, etc., it goes on and on with him, which is fine, he has been like this since the first day I met him. I do not except him to change. People do not become millionaires by always giving. I get it! I hope they see themselves for what I now see them as; nongiving, noncharity operations without due acknowledgement (maybe I should of placed a bill board with a Thank You posted in their honor of $2,500 dollars). And let be clear, that is Two thousand, five hundred and 00/100s. NOT Twenty Five thousand and 00/100s. Not a great sum! Just enough to help us out for a few months of traction.

But then I get word that the aunt and Larry have told my dad about the money and that I have yet to pay them back.

I mean seriously? Not only have I paid them back almost half (which they did not mention), but you have money to spare for others? You cant give me a grace period? Or better yet...CALL ME and ask before calling my dad? Like seriously, during this time frame, I visited and spoke with my aunt monthly! She could have said if she needed it earlier! I would have pushed something off. But to go to my dad, who I asked specifically not to be told?

This is my aunt.

  • This is the same aunt that took a poetry file from a 13 year old and held onto it for 20 years, so I could look back on it someday and "rethink" what I was going through in those years.
  • The same aunt that pitted sisters love of each other, against each other.
  • The same aunt that played chess with my mom and dad feelings for each other for decades.
  • The same aunt that sits in judgement of a church and who they chose to allow in!
  • This is the aunt that uses and manipulates our very feelings to justify her preachings! She is not worth the energy I ever put into any relationship with her.

Needless to say, it took me right at a year to pay them off with a bonus because I never meant to harm them in anyway, and truthfully, a bank would have charged interest. I walked in and placed the envelope on the counter of their home and I left. I have not spoke to my aunt since. I do not really care too. Her actions, her reasoning, will all be plausible excuses in her own mind. I wont begin to go that route! But I tell you what I have learned through the years...

  • When a person shows you who they are, make sure to always watch the action before the word.
  • When you hear a boaster become louder, look careful, charity will NEVER start within ones own home/rhelm.
  • When you think someone has your best interest at heart, look first to see who is being stepped on, it will surprise you to see their carnaige.
  • Someone who hides within a church, know that demons reside there as well.
  • When you think you can move forward, be advised, they can deem you the damned by their own judge and jury. And you will be left to hang.
  • Do not get mad. Do not get even. Just chose to never be like them.
  • Trust being broken once, can be recovered. Over and over, it becomes my turn to walk away.

And please, know this, I do not blame her for everything bad in my life. She has her own small parts of good in my life line. Like swimming in Angie's pool in Arizonia. We had fun out there! She was a part of that laughter and it felt good. Shopping in OBX. We have had our fun. And it makes me smile to remember those times. But it saddens me too because I too have always been forsaken by her. She has always used me in some form or capacity, to either get to Angie or to my dad. She will never admit it. She is too vein to ever see any of this through my eyes.

But I think what hurt me most recent, was her action toward me AT A FUNERAL. Her daughter in law had just passed away spring of 2025. I go to hug her in a line of people hugging she and Larry and she literally shoulder shrugged me away. At a funeral! In front of many, many people who saw and witnessed it. Where I am not the display, BUT SHE chose to make herself a DISPLAY piece! Disgusting! I was so disgusted by that one.

See it wasn't about MaryBeth at this point. At this point it was about me being in her presence! Did not matter one bit that me and MaryBeth got along great and I have huge amounts of sympathy for Maddie and Mike and what they are going through. I was willing to walk through this onslaught of people and not make a scene because it was not about me or her, BUT SHE WAS NOT WILLING TO DO THAT! That should tell everyone exactly what she is about always and first! In case nothing else says it, that shows it.

So anyways...this is the end of my aunts story in my life! I wish her and Larry nothing but blissful happiness truly! I hope they figure out a way to take all those dollars and matieral items with them when they go. I hear their health is not good. I do pray for them to be healthy. To be happy. But you hear things and I hope they are happy with themselves because I think that is all they have. His family has little to do with him and her family has nothing to do with her. O, except my dad. Because he does love his sister. And I am glad he can be there for her. But I will never fall back into that trap! It's a waste field of potential! Because I do love her. I just have to love from afar now. And never ask anything of her again. Not even her love.

Listening is the key

Hi guys, Took a hiatus for a while. Really did a lot of thinking, reflecting, and understanding evolved. So I think it was definately needed...
